Description
The Coaxial Beast: Kamov Ka-52 Alligator
Discover one of the most distinctive silhouettes in modern military aviation. The Kamov Ka-52, NATO reporting name "Hokum-B," is a heavy attack helicopter that breaks all the rules. Unlike Western designs, it utilizes a coaxial rotor system—two main rotors spinning in opposite directions—eliminating the need for a vulnerable tail rotor. This design grants it exceptional maneuverability and the ability to operate in strong winds. Furthermore, it is the only combat helicopter with side-by-side seating for the pilots and fully functional ejection seats, making it a true engineering anomaly.
HELIXO has accepted the challenge of replicating this complex machine with precision. The focal point of the kit is the tall, intricate rotor mast assembly, which correctly depicts the dual swashplates and linkages required to control the contra-rotating blades. The fuselage is molded to capture the aerodynamic, shark-like nose and the wide cockpit canopy. Inside, the flight deck is rich in detail, featuring the two K-37 ejection seats, the instrument panel with multi-function displays, and the overhead consoles used by the pilot and weapon systems officer.
This kit is designed for modelers who love aggressive aesthetics. The decal sheet recreates the striking geometric "Splinter Camouflage" (angular shards of grey and blue), a modern Russian scheme designed to disrupt the aircraft's outline against the sky and terrain. The weapon pylons are heavily loaded with accurate replicas of 9K121 Vikhr anti-tank guided missiles and B-8V20 rocket pods. A side-mounted 30mm cannon completes the arsenal of this formidable "flying tank."
