Description
Four Engines, No Excuses: Lockheed C-130H Hercules
There is perhaps no aircraft more versatile or respected in military aviation history than the C-130 Hercules. Designed to operate from rough, dirt strips and deliver troops or cargo anywhere in the world, the "Herc" has been in continuous production longer than any other military aircraft. This kit represents the C-130H variant, the classic workhorse powered by four Allison T56 turboprops, known for its distinct engine hum and rugged reliability. It is the definitive tactical transport, serving front-line missions from the jungles of Vietnam to the mountains of Afghanistan.
The SKYCRAFT 1:72 scale tooling does justice to this aviation legend. The kit features a fully detailed flight deck and, crucially, a complete cargo hold interior. Modelers can choose to assemble the rear loading ramp and paratroop doors in the open position to display the ribbing and floor rollers inside. The exterior surface details include fine recessed panel lines and accurate representations of the external fuel tanks and sensor pods characteristic of the H-model. The four-bladed propellers are molded with pitch accuracy, giving the model a dynamic look even when static.
This release is dedicated to the Montana Air National Guard (120th Airlift Wing), specifically airframe 96-7325. The decal sheet provides the authentic, low-visibility grey Air Mobility Command (AMC) camouflage scheme used by the unit. It includes the "Big Sky Country" tail flashes, unit badges, and precise maintenance stenciling found on the real machine. Building this model is a tribute to the "Citizen Airmen" who fly these massive machines into the eye of the storm, whether fighting forest fires or deploying overseas.
